To deliver news free of bias and therefore avoid possible conflicts.
To steer clear from vulgarities, racial tirades or other objectionable vilifications in stories unless they are part of direct quotations and there is a substantial reason for them.
To advocate the right of free speech and freedom of the press and to respect an individual's right to privacy.
To report matters regarding ourselves or our personnel with the same vigour and candour as it would be with other institutions or individuals.

Stories should not be written or edited solely for the intent of winning awards and prizes. Self-serving journalism contests and awards that reflect unfavourably on the newspaper or the profession should be avoided.
